On Gadda’s fascism. A new document from «Popolo d'Italia»

Abstract

The article aims to highlight a letter that has not been considered in the debate on Gadda’s fascism, letter that appeared in the Tiro a segno column of «Il Popolo d’Italia» on 17 June 1924. The context is that, quite problematic for the regime, of the kidnapping and killing of Giacomo Matteotti; Gadda writes to the column’s editor Luigi Freddi (nom de plume Il Fromboliere) to express his disapproval of the enemies of fascism who would like to take advantage of the crisis to question the government.
