«Si finge nell’isola di Tabarca». Announcing a new annotated edition of La Turca.

Abstract

This article aims to present the new critical and annotated edition of the Turca comedia, the first published comedy by Giovan Battista Andreini, printed in 1611 in Casale Monferrato and again, with variants, in 1620 in Venice. After illustrating the methods followed and the main problems faced in creating the edition (the subject of my doctoral thesis completed at the Scuola Normale and Sorbonne Université), the essay presents the language, style and themes of the comedy, and offers a sample of the textual variants between the editio princeps and the Venetian edition.
